I actually read it somewhere else, after I told my Uncle, “Everyone loved her. That’s a true sign of her love and her character. There’s no controversy about whether to love Dolly Parton.” I think it was in the New York Times this morning. Somewhere it said something like, “What is something everyone agrees on? Dolly Parton.”
I heard this song for the first time today:
Pretty cool to learn that she had a good experience in Eugene, Oregon back in 1972. I guess the story was that she was recovering, and not feeling her best, and asked the audience to have patience. She was visibly struggling halfway through the concert, and the audience in Eugene gave her a standing ovation, out of support. It made a big impact. It’s a nice song to listen to and think about her gifts to the world. My two faves are the movie 9 to 5, and her involvement in the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination. Oh, I mean, besides the music, which is a given.

I’m glad the timing was perfect. It’s something of a surprise that it was her time to go when only recently she was planning a concert tour. I am glad that with her passing, we are motivated to sit back and appreciate her, and to smile.
Yes – I was surprised too – but at least she didn’t have years of agony eh?

Definitely a one-off
It must take SO much work to rise above it all in the way that she did. Thank goodness she had her devoted husband, Carl Dean, who must have been a very needed shoulder at times. I try so hard to be the person I want to be, and yet my temper and my frustrations win sometimes. She was constantly in the spotlight, yet kept that kind spirit for decades. What a strong woman she was.
I was at a birthday for Miss E yesterday and everyone there had something kind and loving to say. No politics, just love. That’s what Dolly inspired in the world. She was an Angel in human form doing more good in her 80 years than most can even imagine. Whether you like her music or not, the human she was became the perfect example for the rest of us. I’m glad she got to go home with her husband and rest. There was nothing easy about her life. Thanks for sharing this, Crystal. I’m still behind and trying to catch up with you shortly.
