Happy St. Patrick’s Day

It is not much of a rainbow, but it is a rainbow.

I was not even aware that it was St. Patrick’s Day this morning when I spotted this speck of rainbow. I had to stand on my tiptoes to see it. I tried to get a photo, but all manner of things were in the way. I actuallly went into Pedro’s shop and got out the stepladder real quick, to get a better shot with my camera.

Another try, not much better.

“Duh!” I told myself. “The house is in the way, so obviously you need to shoot from the front of the house.” I left my hot coffee on the rock path, left the stepladder in the back yard and ran back to the house, took off my poop boots (That’s my nickname for the back yard boots I wear for all activities, but especially inside the chicken coop, for obvious reasons.), ran through the house, out the front door, grabbed Jupyter who was trying to make a break for it, pulled up the camera to my face and…. no rainbow. So at least I got a peep.

Then later, after I had put everything away and went back to the back yard office, I learned it’s St. Patrick’s Day. So hey! I’m lucky. Maybe I should buy lottery tickets or something.

I also learned today that it is my blogging anniversary.

I posted on Word Press for the first time on March 17, 2010. The post really said next to nothing. It was a tester, as I poked and prodded the Interwebs looking for a new blog host when my old blog host died. I’m so glad I decided to stay here and then I got to meet you all. Just think of the wonderful adventures we have had since then!

If you do click the link, you may notice that there are posts much earlier than 2010. That’s because I re-posted, one by one, every old post back to 2007 from my former blog hosting site, and dated it the original date. But I wasn’t really here until today, 16 years ago.

When I went out to feed the chickens, I noticed a couple of hybrid daffodils were blooming. These bulbs I spotted and tucked away into the earth when I built the garden bed frames last spring. I’m so glad I did that. Look how beautiful they are!

I had a doctor’s appointment today and got a tetanus shot and a pneumococcal shot this afternoon at my doctor’s office, both apparently good for ten years. Pedro just got his tetanus six months ago and suggested we can now safely jab each other with rusty nails. It’s going to be a fun week…

  1. Happy Anniversary!!

Wow, that is impressive! As I watch social media become both dilluted and deluded, I am so grateful for blogs! Yours is one of my favorites! That little touch of rainbow is more than I saw, so kudos!

    Dia dhuit ar maidin!

    A sunbeam to warm you,
    a moonbeam to charm you,
    a sheltering angel so
    nothing can harm you …

    – Irish blessing

    1. Bonnie, thank you for the high praise. I am so pleased to hear that you like my blog that much. And thank you for the very special Irish blessing. I have a lot of Irish in me (much more than Cherokee!), and have always felt connected on an ancestral level.

    1. Ha!! More likely those than the metal ones, since he and I are always very kind to each other. Even our “meanest” times don’t involve jabbing or pointy instruments. Now that I think of it, Jupyter has the most dangerous nails on the premises.

  2. Oh Goodness!! I missed it. Happy Blogaversary. Wow! Congratulations. Also for the shot of the rainbow. The colors are stunning of what was visible. Daffodils make me so happy and yours are so happy looking. Now, you kids behave and stay away from rusty nails if you can. I know you are always kind to one another. I’m catching up, finally.

    1. We promise to be careful around rusty pointy things! Today Pedro is rebuilding the shelf in the kitchen that holds the microwave, because we got a new one that is smaller and lighter and 13 years younger! I imagine there will be some scratches and bumps on my man when all is said and done, but no tetanus. :o) A smaller microwave is going to allow us room to install our new, taller, coffee machine on the same counter, that we bought to replace Pedro’s old Nespresso machine that is 12 years old.

Like I felt in the Rainier house, the nice thing about a really old kitchen is that it is going to need to be upgraded soon and then we get to choose how. To be honest, I really want to tear out the wall and do in this house what I did in the Rainier house with the kitchen. But… this time around I don’t have $40k sitting in my bank account, waiting to be used. So it will just have to be a new microwave and new coffee machine only.
