We need you tomorrow!

I love my country, oh so much. I want better for her.

Hi, anyone who is reading this. Tomorrow is a big rally to show our support for democracy and decency.

Body

If you are safe, and financially able, we need your body at a rally. In my experience, it’s a fun community event and you can’t help but come away loving your neighbors more. There are over 3,000 planned in the U.S. tomorrow, so chances are good there will be one near you. Look it up at: nokings.org

If you are reading this Saturday, check times! I have seen rallies with start times at 9am, 10am, 11am, and noon. Maybe it’s not too late!

Car

If you are not safe to stand beside the road with others, then we need you in your car, driving safely past, and honking your horn. People holding signs get a massive thrill when you drive past and honk your horn. Circle around and go through twice! Or do it for an hour (if you can afford the gas). We would love that.

Share

If you cannot do that, then tell somebody about what’s happening tomorrow. If you have social media, say something publicly. You can say, “I hope everyone stays safe tomorrow,” and that is support. We would love that, too!

Access

If you have accessibility limitations, we’ve got you. There are a couple of options, but here’s one from NO KINGS organizers: Join the Accessibility Rally.

Flag

If you have an American flag, fly your flag. Show how proud you are to be an American, or that you stand in solidarity with the message we are trying to send tomorrow.

Read and Watch

Read Annie’s blog that I’ll post below, who provides a link for a live broadcast from Minnesota. If you watch that broadcast (with Bruce Springsteen and Joan Baez), and add your little “1” to the collection of views, it’s going to be awesome! We would love it if you could do that! People are going to comment on how many viewers watched the broadcast, I promise you. So add yourself to the number and make it huge.

Find Your Joy

Keep up your spirits. Things are shifting in MAGA-world and they will not reign unaccountable for much longer. Let’s all meet up and celebrate on the other side.

    1. A 1940’s anti-Nazi hat?! I had never even heard of these till you mentioned them, so I had to look it up. THANK YOU for wearing it and so sad we have to. At the Hillsboro rally today, a bunch of people were wearing green crocheted frog hats (we are so proud of our Portland frog). A young woman was handing out homemade crocheted frogs – I got one! Lots of people in frog shirts with frog signs. I wish I had known about the red melt the ice hat, and I would have been looking for them. Thank you for putting your body out there in protest, Bonnie.

      1. I have a good friend who is a rockstar in the knitting community and she made them for Kelly and I. I didn’t see many at our local rally but I did take the opportunity to share the story when I could. Glad you got out too!

    2. Well this is funny: today (April 4) I am looking casually at statistics on my WP page. I see that on exactly one day, I lost 30 subscribers. The day was March 28, right after this post. That’s too bad. If they were people who intentionally unsubscribed, I am happy that they all saw me first as someone worth following, then as a person who despises Dump. Every little bit counts.

      1. When I see things like that I’m grateful they’ve removed themselves. It means I won’t have to. Life is short, my dear ❤️

    1. Thank you Mark. It’s so good to hear from you! I didn’t even realize you were still on the radar or I would have tried to meet you last May when I was in England. Of all the times to say hello, now is the right time. I am grateful for your solidarity. We did our best to speak out today. We know our country is inflicting harm across the world and it’s embarrassing and emboldening for things like protests.

    1. Hugs Marlene! Everyone I know is safe, and many of my acquaintances hit the streets today. I hope the numbers were good. There was a hearty turnout in Hillsboro, and that’s a small town. I was happy to see thousands out there, though almost zero people of colour. In our opinions (Pedro and me), people of colour are in fear for their lives – with good reason in the Portland metro area – so I am proud of all the White people who were out there, being loud and proud for our neighbors who we love.
