Things to Smile About

Tying up loose ends before my trip includes letting you know what things look like around here.

Cascade Head

This new trail to us at Cascade Head quickly became a favourite of mine.

All three of us had fun trying to find a trail, then walking the loop, before making our way back to the hotel.

Proximity to the Fanno Creek Trail was one of the main reasons we bought the new house.

The trailhead is at about 4000 feet elevation and we climbed about 1700 feet that day in only 4.5 miles.

I am hugely grateful to be 51 and happily climbing mountains.

Forty years later it’s amazing both that there is so much life here, and that I can still see the devastating effects of the volcanic eruption.

Forest Park is teeming with fields of flowers and so many bright colours!

We would be hiking the Cherry Orchard Trail that also begins near Lyle, and I knew ahead of time that I would like it.

I was deep in the forest at this point and had no panoramic views.
