Towhee Series

Such a pretty pose.

I’m skimming through my October photos so far, and spotted these. What a gorgeous collection of Autumn colours, with the colorful little Spotted Towhee in the center.

She’s perched on my hydrangeas, which were blue-purple in the summer, but have turned the richest plum, just like they did last year. I wonder what is in the soil right there. And the yellowing sunflowers are wilting behind her. And her russet vest and deep red eyes with a black jacket and white speckles. Such a handsome one.

Eyes on fire. Here you can see her white bib too. She is dressed so well.
I think it’s sunlight on the tail and not a white flash.

I’m going with female. Her black is more of a very dark grey. Her white is more tiny spots than streaks. I don’t see white on her tail. But…she looks a lot like a male too. Anyone who knows towhees, join in.

Happy October to you all. It’s my favourite month and it’s leaving us oh, so soon. ❤
